CASE STUDY

Community‑Based Research on Perceptions of COVID‑19 Boosters in Adults and Vaccination for Children in Vietnamese Americans

April 2022 - July 2023

PROJECT GOALS

Understand the barriers to vaccination and clinical trial participation among Vietnamese Americans

For this project, we aimed to examine perceptions around vaccination, clinical trials, and trusted information sources among Vietnamese Americans. We also hoped to understand the facilitators and barriers to COVID-19 booster vaccines in adults and immunizations in children.

We accomplished our goals through surveying community members, hosting 4 focus groups, and executing a digital media campaign that reached 105,000 people. Our community partners hosted or participated in 16 events  — including health fairs, vaccine drives, and clinics — attended by 3,880 people. At these events, 317 COVID vaccines, 757 flu vaccines, and 4 Shingrix vaccines were administered. Additionally, 798 health screenings were completed and 124 educational flyers distributed.
